The Little things...

I work at a job where it's not uncommon to walk 10 to 15 miles a day. This is during an 8 hour shift, don't make me try to compute a 10  hour shift, I don't have enough digits. As a person gets used to this pace, things become noticeable, sore knees, ankles, lower back, FEET. I think you get my drift.

Today, before I even left my house, I had decided that I was going to take a "Relaxing Measure" after work. I made sure I brought my sandals, And, I made sure I had the money for a couple of beers.
As my day progressed, I happened to notice, that I was completely obsessed with my idea of de-compression. I continued my unchallenging tasks, trudged about my daily routine, toiled... BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.
I reached a point where I decided to lie to my supervisor. Yeah, I lied, I lied that I was not feeling up to the standards that the company would approve of, and asked if I could be excused for the day.
Well, it being Friday, Payday, the beginning of anything, but, there, she didn't even bat an eyelash, at my pitiful excuse. Just wished me a better weekend, and, feel better. WOW!

Now, to my "Relaxing Measure"
I had decided that I was going to go to the river, for those of you NOT familiar with the area, the Truckee River, and soak my feet, while drinking a large beer.
My original plan was to go under the bridge, near work, and, well, just put my feet in the water.
That didn't happen, I drove around trying to find access to the river, to no avail. How the hell does one get to the RIVER? Roads go near it, over it, past it, but, not... TO... IT! I drove for about 30 minutes, looking for access. Didn't work.
So, being a planning sort of person, I had a secondary site, in mind.
Gave up the idea of a close bond with work, which, by the way is a horrible thought. ( I really hope you caught the sarcasm there), and, headed home, to Fernley.
My secondary plan was simple, just go under the bridge at Wadsworth. Which, as it turned out, not a great idea, but, a good one.

It's summer, here in Nevada. Which means hot, dry, air.
Apparently, I was not the only person to think of shade AND river. I'm really making a big stink of nothing, I just wanted to be alone. Plans don't work that way(for me). Being a patient person, I handled my plan, within 30 minutes, I was alone, under the shade of the bridge, with my feet in the water.

Now, my point.
The relaxing cool of the river seemed to melt away the drudgery, wasted time, and uselessness, of my everyday work life. I did, not once, think of the people I had left, (handling dresses, diapers, and, the latest cooking utensil, that people WE will never meet, have ordered on-line) to do my fair portion of the job. Not once did I think of WORK. And, as I continued to relax, I noticed that my feet did not THROB. The cool waters of my river soothed me, eased my mind, and, brought me back to a reality I had thought lost.
Life's simple, WE make it complicated.
Trust me, if you can get some"Alone" time, take it. It's amazing how much rejuvenation, relaxation, and, mental well being comes from just soakin' your feet in the river.
If you don't bob n weeve, you're gonna get knocked out.
